FINALS: Powerade Tigers 1 - 3 Talk N Text Tropang Texters

Talk ‘N Text hopes that the shooting incident involving Ali Peek won’t be a distraction when it collides with Powerade in the main game of the 2011-12 PBA Philippine Cup Wednesday at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

The Tropang Texters lost another big man in Peek, who was shot in the neck by an unidentified gunman Monday night after the player’s plyometric training session at the RFM Gymnasium in Mandaluyong City.

Talk ‘N Text coach Chot Reyes said the 36-year old Peek is now out of danger but the bullet is still lodged on his neck and doctors at the Medical City are awaiting the decision of the relatives regarding the surgery.

DESPITE coming off a big win last Sunday, Talk N Text coach Chot Reyes is wary of an opponent that had been beaten badly on the same day.

“I’m pretty sure they will come out with their best effort because their last game was a disaster for them,” said Reyes of the Powerade Tigers whom the Tropang Texters will lock horns with at 7:30 pm Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

MANILA, Philippines - The Barako Bull Energy overwhelmed the Powerade Tigers, 117-78, to register the most lopsided win in their franchise's history last Sunday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

It was a bounce back win for Barako Bull, who saw their 4-game winning streak snapped by the Alaska Aces last week.

"In our opening game against Petron, we lost by double digits and we responded well by winning our next four games. We lost to Alaska by 21 points and we responded well again tonight," said Barako head coach Junel Baculi in a PBA.ph interview.

Coach Bo Perasol is pleased with the development of his Powerade Tigers. He said the team is showing encouraging signs that should make them competitive in the league.

The problem, he emphasized, is that the Tigers still lack consistency to be able maintain their goal and transform into a certified contender.
